The 3G Shutdown
By August 31, 2024, 3G will be switched off across the country. Telstra plans to gradually phase out 3G services, with the aim of replacing it with 4G in most locations to provide a more reliable and efficient service.
This shift to 4G is necessary, as in today’s day and age the 3G network no longer meet the demands of modern mobile usage, which heavily relies on extensive data consumption. By upgrading 4G, Telstra aims to enhance its delivery of next-generation technology, offering customers a faster and better service for the future.
While we know the change will enhance connectivity, we also know there may be questions and concerns around the switching off of 3G networks, particularly for those living and working in rural, regional, and remote Australia.
What does this mean for Land Watch systems?
Most of our camera systems will not be affected. However, any clients who are on the fringe of 3G currently, most likely won’t get the 4G.
In this case you will need an antenna upgrade. When the towers tip over to 4G, some of you may need to reboot your systems to sync back in.
